This hike provides a scenic stroll over rolling hills with seasonal tall grass. Due to the picturesque quality of the grasslands, the area around the trail was used in the filming of the 1941 movie, How Green Was My Valley, starring John Wayne. Parking is available at the main parking lot at Malibu Creek State Park via Crags Road.

Grassland Trail can be accessed from the main parking lot at Malibu Creek State Park via Crags Road. From the 101, exit at Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas and head south for approximately 3.4 miles. The park entrance is just past Mulholland Highway on the right. From the PCH, turn east onto Malibu Canyon Road. Continue onto Las Virgenes Road. Park entrance is on left after approximately one mile.
