The South Fork Trail runs from the “Devil’s Chair” to South Fork Campground located along the South Fork of the Big Rock Creek. From the Devil’s Chair the trail switchbacks down into Holcomb Canyon and Creek. Holcomb Creek is a tributary of Big Rock Creek and provides water for the underground aquifer for Antelope Valley to the north. Holcomb Creek is always an enjoyable place to take a shady break (and snack). From Holcomb canyon the trail switchbacks up and out of the Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area, and over a ridge into South Fork Canyon and South Fork Campground. This canyon continues south to Islip Saddle along State Highway 2.
