Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park and all trails within the park are closed. The high-voltage transformer that provided Bonelli Park with electricity failed on May 5, 2025 and is unrepairable. LA County Parks is working with a contractor to replace the transformer. The park has been temporarily closed because there is no electricity, no running water and no bathrooms.
Vargus Trail is a 0.5 mile fire road that climbs a hill on the western side of Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park. The steep exposed fire road makes for a moderately difficult climb but allows for unobstructed views of the San Gabriel Mountains and Puddingstone Reservoir.
