The Stephens Ranch Spur Trail is a 0.9 mile trail that links the staging area at the terminus of Stephens Ranch Road to the main Marshall Canyon Trail. The wide variety of terrain types and settings on this trail make for a somewhat difficult but interesting hike, bike, or ride.

Marshall Canyon Trail is a 7.8 mile trail that starts in Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, travels through the City of La Verne, and provides access to the network of trails above the cities of La Verne and Claremont. The southern portion is mostly flat and urban, while the northern portion is within a natural foothill environment.

***Please note that the City of Claremont manages the trails in Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (CHWP). On May 22, 2025 a new ordinance went into effect which regulates the use of electric bicycles, or “E-bikes” and provides standards of trail etiquette in the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. https://www.claremontca.gov/News-articles/E-Bike-Use-at-CHWP

Permitted devices in Wilderness Park include: Manual pedal bikes, Class 1 E-bikes & Class 2 E-bikes.

Prohibited devices in Wilderness Park include: Class 3 E-bikes, Surron-type cycles & Any other motorized conveyance device, including but not limited to skateboards, scooters, ATVs, minibikes, dirt bikes, etc.

Trail Etiquette Standards in Wilderness Park:

  • Bicycle and e-bike operators must yield to pedestrians and equestrians.
  • Pedestrians must yield to equestrians.
  • All users must yield right-of-way to emergency and maintenance vehicles.

This Trail is well marked with new markers. It is part of the greater Marshall Canyon trails, has a section of steep climb but not too tough to do.
