The King Gillette Fire Road Trail offers an alternative to the Gillette Ranch Loop Trail, which does not allow bicycles or horses. The trail starts at the Anthony C. Beilenson Interagency Visitors Center, which has information about parks and recreation amenities in the area. The trail climbs up the ridge with views of the surrounding Santa Monica Mountains, including the Bob Hope, Rex Morgan, and Fox Studios Ranches, as well as the Diego Sepúlveda Adobe.

The Visitors Center and staging area for the King Gillette Ranch is located on Mulholland Hwy approximately 0.1 miles east of Las Virgenes Rd, accessible from the 101 and the PCH, via Malibu Canyon Rd. Ample paid parking is available here. The trailhead is located south of the Visitor Center.
