PASADENA-ALTADENA PILOT TRANSIT TO TRAILS SERVICE

Connecting County residents to our region's vast park and open space resources is a priority that was identified in the Los Angeles County Parks Needs Assessment and the Southern California Association of Governments' Regional Transportation Plan. Barriers to park and open space access may include physical distance, lack of transportation options for people without access to a car, heavy traffic, and constrained parking for popular destinations at peak times. The County and the City of Pasadena, in partnership with the Trust for Public Land and the Wilderness Society, are proposing a 6-month pilot Transit to Trails Service between the Metro Gold Line Memorial Park Station in Pasadena and the Sam Merrill trailhead in the North Lake Avenue area of Altadena. The Sam Merrill Trail is a popular major hiking trail providing access to exclusive areas in the San Gabriel Mountain Range. The pilot Transit to Trails Service would commence on April 7, 2018, and extend through September 30, 2018, operating on Saturdays and Sundays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. This pilot Transit to Trail Service supports the wellness of our communities through expanded access to recreational opportunities, and will provide residents of unincorporated Altadena another transit option for improved regional mobility.
